Job Description

Job Summary The Operations Intern supports the Operations Manager across the production, maintenance, and tool room departments by assisting with data analysis, performance reporting, and continuous improvement activities. A primary focus of this role is helping stand up a unified plant operations dashboard that consolidates production, quality, maintenance, labor, and spending data into a single source of truth for the plant. The intern will work alongside operations leadership and supervisors to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing operations, data systems, and problem solving while contributing to projects that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development, testing, and validation of a unified plant operations dashboard consolidating production, quality, maintenance, labor, and spending data.
  • Collect, clean, and reconcile data from plant systems, including machine monitoring, maintenance work orders, quality checks, and labor reporting.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Analyze and summarize production, quality, and maintenance performance data (OEE, output vs. target, downtime, compliance) to support operational decisions and resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including standard work, process documentation, and data definitions.
  • Perform time studies and validate production rates against routing and cost standards.
  • Support production, maintenance, and tool room supervisors with shift-level reporting and floor-level adoption of data collection systems.
  • Coordinate assigned projects and communicate status and findings to operations leadership.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment while following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Education and Experience Profile
  • Junior level standing or higher in course work leading to a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operations Management, Business Analytics, or a related field from an accredited 4-year college or university. Required Skills
  • Eagerness to learn and accept challenges
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write reports and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with data analysis tools (advanced Excel, SQL, or similar) preferred; exposure to databases, programming, or statistics is a plus
