With over 5,000 different types of wire mesh in stock, Gerard Daniel also offers coiled and custom drawn wire, screens and separators, filtration components, and mechanical insulation products. Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Technician to support wire cloth manufacturing operations, troubleshooting, and facility improvements. This role works closely with customer service, sales, production, and maintenance teams to ensure high-quality output, efficient processes, and continuous improvement across operations. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to customer service and sales teams, including product knowledge and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Support production teams by resolving manufacturing issues and improving operational performance.
  • Assist with equipment installation, startup, and troubleshooting of wire cloth looms and related systems.
  • Recommend and implement equipment and process improvements to reduce downtime, improve safety and increase productivity.
  • Support preventive maintenance initiatives and reliability improvements.
  • Assist with facility layout planning and optimization to improve workflow and efficiency.
  • Support building improvements, construction projects, and system upgrades.
  • Assist in identifying quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Share best practices and support team development across engineering and production functions. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments (preferably wire cloth, metal fabrication, or similar industries).
  • Experience with troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with quality control methods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Excellent communication abilities. Preferred Skills
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial layout and facility planning.
  • CAD design experience.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting expertise
