Job Role and Responsibility:

AMD, Inc. is hiring Sr. Systems Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses. Devise validation strategy from pre-silicon through customer adoption working across architecture, silicon design, firmware, validation, and debug teams. Drive debug and resolution of Zen CPU validation issues across silicon, firmware/BIOS, and coordinating with memory partners as needed. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of variety of factors. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Degree required Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications:

Amount and type of experience required: One (1) year of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required:

The following skills are required: Position requires experience in the following: C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Python; GPU architecture, CPU architecture, or SOC architecture; Logic and circuit design; RTL design or coding; SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL; ASIC design; Submicron ASIC design flow; and ASIC design tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, and static timing analysis). Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, internship, and/or work experience. #LI-AM4
