In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and refining mechanical prototypes that drive technological advancements across diverse projects. Your expertise will directly contribute to transforming conceptual ideas into tangible, functional prototypes, ensuring they meet rigorous standards and project timelines. Duties Lead the design and development of mechanical prototypes using advanced CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to translate system requirements into detailed mechanical schematics, drawings, and specifications aligned with ASME codes & standards. Conduct root cause analysis on prototype failures or issues, implementing corrective actions to optimize design performance. Apply principles of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure precise manufacturing and assembly processes. Utilize simulation tools like FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and MATLAB/Simulink to validate mechanical designs under various operational conditions. Support manufacturing processes by providing technical guidance on CNC machining, 3D printing, and other fabrication techniques. Perform system design integration with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Arduino platforms, LabVIEW, and other control systems for functional testing. Engage in project scheduling to meet development milestones while maintaining high-quality standards throughout the prototype lifecycle. Skills Strong mechanical engineering foundation with comprehensive knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks, Creo, and drafting tools for creating detailed schematics and models. Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), MATLAB, Simulink, and LabVIEW for simulation and system testing. Familiarity with CNC machining, 3D printing, and other manufacturing techniques essential for prototype fabrication. Knowledge of ASME codes & standards relevant to mechanical design and system safety compliance. Ability to perform root cause analysis effectively to troubleshoot prototype issues swiftly. Understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Arduino platforms, and system integration for automation purposes. Excellent project scheduling skills to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently within tight deadlines.
