Position Summary The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in improving and supporting CNC machining and manufacturing operations at Mark Williams Enterprises. This position will be responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs, manufacturing processes, tooling strategies, workholding, and production methods to improve quality, efficiency, repeatability, and throughput. This is a hands-on engineering position. The ideal candidate has significant experience programming and operating CNC equipment and is comfortable working directly with machinists and production personnel on the manufacturing floor. This individual should be capable of taking a component from drawing through programming, setup, first article, and production while continuously identifying opportunities to improve cycle time, tooling life, quality, and manufacturing cost. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with production, quality, and operations leadership to support existing products, new product development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and other CNC machining equipment Support CNC machine setup, prove out, troubleshooting, and first article production Develop efficient manufacturing processes for new and existing components Determine appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, workholding, and machining strategies Generate robust and reliable machining process to allow for unattended machining Analyze and reduce machining cycle times while maintaining required quality standards Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and manufacturing process issues Work directly with machinists and CNC operators to improve processes and resolve production challenges Review engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications to determine appropriate manufacturing methods Design or assist with the development of fixtures, workholding, and production tooling Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, setup instructions, routings, and standard operating procedures Support new product introduction from prototype development through full production Perform first article inspections and work with Quality to ensure parts meet specifications Identify manufacturing bottlenecks and develop solutions to improve throughput Evaluate tooling performance and implement improvements to increase tool life and reduce production costs Improve machine utilization, setup time, process repeatability, and overall manufacturing efficiency Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions related to manufacturing or quality issues Assist with capital equipment evaluation, machine selection, and implementation Work with operations leadership to establish standard manufacturing times and production expectations Support continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing Maintain accurate manufacturing information within the company's ERP/MRP system Collaborate with Key Functional partners on design-for-manufacturability improvements Support machinists and CNC operators on new programs, processes, tooling, and manufacturing methods Qualifications Required 2+ years of experience in CNC machining, manufacturing engineering, or a similar precision manufacturing environment Strong hands-on experience programming and operating CNC machine tools Strong Experience with CAD/CAM programming software Experience with CNC mills and/or CNC lathes Strong understanding of G-code, CNC programming principles, tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining practices Ability to independently develop CNC programs and manufacturing processes from engineering drawings Strong understanding of cutting tools, tool holders, inserts, workholding, and machining strategies Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and tolerances. Experience troubleshooting CNC programs, machine setups, tooling, and part-quality issues Strong mechanical aptitude and hands on problem solving ability Understanding of precision measurement equipment and inspection methods Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, quality, and operations teams Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems Preferred / Bonus Skills Experience programming multi-axis CNC equipment Experience with live-tooling CNC lathes, mill-turn machines, 4-axis/5-axis machining, and dual spindle turning centers Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar CNC controls Experience designing machining fixtures and workholding Experience with Fusion360 Experience with SAP Business One (SAP B1) or other ERP/MRP systems Experience developing manufacturing routings and standard labor or machine times Experience in automotive, motorsports, racing, or other precision-machining industries Experience supporting new equipment installation and manufacturing automation What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable working at a computer developing a CNC program and standing at a machine proving out the process. The right candidate will take ownership of manufacturing problems rather than simply identifying them. You should enjoy finding ways to make parts faster, more consistently, and more efficiently while maintaining the precision and quality that Mark Williams products require. Success in this role will require a strong combination of machining knowledge, engineering judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with the people performing the work every day.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
