Junior Manufacturing Engineer Summit Orthopedic Technologies is seeking a motivated Junior Manufacturing Engineer to support our engineering and manufacturing teams in a precision medical device manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer or technically minded individual looking to gain hands-on experience in CNC manufacturing, process documentation, quality requirements, and production engineering. The Junior Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Programming, and Production to create and maintain the documentation required to manufacture and inspect precision components. Responsibilities Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions Develop and update inspection plans Create and revise engineering and manufacturing drawings Assist with ballooned drawings and inspection documentation Create visual setup, assembly, deburring, finishing, and inspection instructions Review customer drawings and specifications to identify critical dimensions and inspection requirements Assist with creating routers, manufacturing process documentation, and operation sequences Support First Article Inspection and validation documentation Assist with process changes and engineering change documentation Work with Quality to ensure inspection requirements are clearly communicated to production Work directly with machinists, programmers, inspectors, and supervisors to improve manufacturing documentation Help standardize manufacturing processes and documentation across the shop Update existing drawings and documents when processes or customer requirements change Assist Manufacturing Engineers with troubleshooting production and quality issues Maintain organized engineering files, revisions, and controlled documentation Support continuous improvement projects throughout manufacturing Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred Recent graduates and candidates with relevant technical or manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply Basic understanding of engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or similar software preferred Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word Strong attention to detail and organization Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, quality, and production personnel Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor learning processes firsthand Ability to manage multiple documentation and engineering projects simultaneously Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following is a plus but not required: CNC machining Medical device manufacturing Inspection planning GD&T CMM or dimensional inspection First Article Inspection Reports Manufacturing routers and travelers ISO 13485 or regulated manufacturing environments SolidWorks or Fusion 360 Technical writing What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is organized, technically curious, and willing to learn. This position is ideal for someone who wants to develop into a full Manufacturing Engineer by gaining practical experience working directly with CNC machining, quality inspection, process development, documentation, and production. You will not be sitting behind a desk all day. You will regularly work with machinists, programmers, inspectors, and supervisors on the manufacturing floor to understand how parts are actually being made and how those processes should be documented. Schedule Full-Time - Day Shift Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed based on production requirements. Compensation $55,000-$70,000 per year , depending on education, manufacturing experience, CAD skills, and technical background.
