Sales Engineer We are seeking a technically minded, customer-focused Sales Engineer to support custom cabinet solutions for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and DOT projects. This is a customer-facing technical role that connects sales, engineering, and manufacturing. You'll manage projects from bid through delivery by reviewing plans and specifications, preparing quotations, coordinating technical requirements, and working with customers and internal teams to keep projects on track. This is not a traditional cold-calling sales role or a design engineering position. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys both the technical and business sides of manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project requirements and material quantities. Prepare quotations for custom ITS cabinet systems and related products. Serve as the primary customer contact for technical and commercial matters. Convert accepted quotations into sales orders and process purchase orders in the ERP system. Coordinate drawings, submittals, and technical requirements with engineering. Work with engineering, purchasing, and production to manage projects from order entry through shipment. Resolve project issues and maintain accurate documentation and customer communication. Build relationships with contractors, system integrators, DOT-related customers, and other industry partners. Support estimating, outside sales, and business development as needed. Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Business, or a related field; equivalent industry experience will also be considered. 3+ years of experience in technical sales, estimating, project management, manufacturing, or a related technical role. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications. Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: ITS, traffic control systems, electrical enclosures, control panels, or custom manufacturing. DOT specifications or public infrastructure projects. Fabrication, sheet metal manufacturing, or electrical assembly. Construction plan review and quantity takeoffs.
