Role Overview Based in Bolingbrook, IL, this full-time, contract-to-hire position is ideal for someone seeking long-term growth. You will work on the first shift with a pay rate between $43 and $50 per hour. By collaborating closely with leadership, supply chain, operations, and design teams, you will gain high visibility and play a direct role in enhancing manufacturing efficiency, safety, quality, and delivery performance. Core Duties You will be responsible for managing manufacturing engineering projects, overseeing the entire lifecycle from the initial planning phase through validation and final production launch. Investigate and create updated manufacturing procedures, equipment, and standardized work instructions. Help boost overall operational performance by identifying ways to streamline processes, cut waste, and drive efficiency. Evaluate engineering outputs to ensure they meet technical requirements, project timelines, and manufacturing feasibility. Act as a manufacturing representative during design reviews to ensure smooth transitions from product concept to final delivery. Support the launch of new products by finding ways to enhance process reliability and lower production expenses. Determine necessary capital equipment and create strategies for integrating new manufacturing technologies. Drive improvements across manufacturing assets by leading process optimization efforts and equipment upgrades. Improve process consistency and safety standards by designing and deploying effective tooling, fixtures, and error-proofing systems. Engage in structured improvement initiatives, including FMEA, Process Mapping, 8-Step Problem Solving, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews. Required Qualifications Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline. At least 5 years of relevant professional experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Proficiency in utilizing data analysis software and managing manufacturing datasets. Strong analytical capabilities with a proven history of utilizing root cause analysis to resolve complex issues. Preferred Skills While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly valued: Background in engineering leadership or project management. Certifications in structured problem-solving methodologies like Six Sigma or Red X. Technical proficiency in CAD/CAM software. Experience collaborating across various business units, including supply chain and operations. Knowledge of manufacturing transformation, Industry 4.0, and advanced automation.
