Job Description
Advanced Battery Manufacturing Engineer The Advanced Battery Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling advanced battery manufacturing processes from laboratory through pilot production. The role includes independent project leadership, process development, troubleshooting, cross-functional collaboration, and customer support for advanced battery technologies including lithium-ion and emerging chemistries.
Salary Range:
$80,000 - $85,000 Per Year Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:- Independently manage customer and internal battery manufacturing projects from planning through execution, ensuring milestones, documentation, and deliverables are achieved.
- Develop and optimize slurry mixing, coating, drying, calendaring, slitting, cell assembly, electrolyte filling, formation, and testing processes.
- Support scale-up from laboratory to pilot manufacturing using Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and root-cause analysis.
- Lead process validation, equipment qualification, manufacturing documentation, and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with R&D, quality, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical issues.
- Analyze electrochemical and manufacturing data to improve yield, quality, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality procedures. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in advanced battery manufacturing, process engineering, or pilot-scale production.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage technical and customer-driven projects from planning through successful execution
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in proposal writing and project management, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, customer communication, and technical reporting.
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery materials, cell design, manufacturing, formation, and testing preferred.
- Knowledge of lithium-sulfur battery materials and cell fabrication preferred.
- Experience working in a production or pilot manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with slurry preparation, coating, calendaring, cell assembly, and electrochemical testing.
- Knowledge of DOE, FMEA, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and root-cause analysis preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
