Job Description

Job Title:
Manufacturing Engineer Job Description Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program. Implement new production equipment, operator work stations, and facilities based on product and process changes during manufacturing assembly build events on site. Responsibilities Compile and distribute daily metrics files in standard night letter format and Excel list format. Identify and drive resolution of manufacturing-related issues. Interface with cross-functional teams such as Product Development, Plant Engineering, and Suppliers. Write, modify, and maintain process sheets as required. Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site, including tooling buy-off at the tooling vendor facility. Lead pre-build validation events for the prototype build at the pilot plant. Assist in preparation of management reviews and data collection to support presentations. Drive quality, cost, and labor improvements during the launch process. Facilitate plant acceleration throughput during the launch through identification and resolution of constraints, including documentation lead for daily acceleration throughput report. Install error proofing as required. Assist in the completion of preventive maintenance planning for all new tooling for the launch. Complete spare parts documentation. Ensure industrial material documentation is completed. Ensure all new tooling and processes meet internal ergonomic guidelines. Essential Skills Process improvement Continuous improvement Manufacturing engineering Bachelor's Degree with an Engineering Concentration Experience and willingness to work within an Automotive Assembly Plant (Internships and Co-Ops acceptable) Experience in leadership (professional or academic setting) Launch support Final assembly Tooling Installation Process development Body engineering Body construction Process engineering Manufacturing process Additional Skills & Qualifications CAD experience Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints Ability to work with minimal direct supervision Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.) Teamcenter experience is a plus Work Environment Team members supporting the new vehicle launch at the Plant work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative manufacturing environment focused on execution, problem-solving, and production readiness. The setting is a blend of office, plant floor, and production support areas, with regular interaction across manufacturing engineering, quality, operations, suppliers, and skilled trades. Launch roles at the plant are highly visible within the manufacturing organization, requiring team members to take ownership of deliverables, communicate status clearly, and escalate risks early. Work hours may flex to support production schedules, launch events, and off-shift activities. Occasional weekend or extended-hour support may be required during critical launch phases. The role is expected to average 50 hours per week, with some weeks ranging from 40-45 hours and others up to 60-65 hours during critical phases of the launch cycle. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00
