Full-Time Salary $85k to 105K Position Summary Our World Class Automotive Supplier. Located in Eaton Rapids, Mi is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support manufacturing operations and the continued improvement of automated production systems. This position will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and improving industrial controls systems, PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment. Relocation package Salary $80K to $105k The successful candidate will be a hands-on problem solver who can work directly with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, and outside vendors to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability, safety, quality, and productivity. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and controls-related problems on automated manufacturing equipment. Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC control systems , including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell platforms. Develop and modify HMI screens and operator interfaces. Troubleshoot and support industrial robotics and automated material-handling systems. Analyze equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions. Support machine startups, installations, upgrades, and equipment commissioning. Develop and modify electrical control systems, schematics, and documentation. Work closely with Maintenance Technicians to identify and resolve recurring controls problems. Support production during equipment breakdowns and minimize manufacturing downtime. Assist with preventative and predictive maintenance programs involving controls and automation. Participate in continuous improvement projects involving automation, controls, cycle-time reduction, and equipment reliability. Work with machine builders, integrators, and outside vendors on equipment modifications and troubleshooting. Ensure controls systems comply with company safety standards and applicable electrical and machine-safety requirements. Maintain accurate documentation of PLC programs, electrical drawings, HMI configurations, and controls modifications. Provide technical support and training to maintenance and manufacturing personnel as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of industrial controls/automation experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience. Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PLCs preferred. Experience with HMI systems and industrial networking. Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment. Robotics experience strongly preferred. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and control drawings. Strong understanding of sensors, drives, motors, VFDs, servos, and industrial control components. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to work effectively with Maintenance and Production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Experience Die casting or magnesium/aluminum manufacturing experience. Experience with Fanuc robotics . Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 / RSLogix. Experience with HMIs such as FactoryTalk View. Experience with VFDs, servo systems, motion control, and safety circuits. Industrial Ethernet/networking experience. Experience with automated material handling and machine vision systems. Experience with equipment commissioning and machine integration. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on Controls Engineer who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor and solving problems rather than working exclusively behind a desk. This individual should be able to walk onto a production line, diagnose a controls problem, determine the root cause, and work with the Maintenance and Production teams to get the equipment safely back into operation.
