Job Description
About the Role Millar runs custom injection molding and CNC machining with secondary operations under one roof — if you've worked in that kind of shop, you'll feel at home here. We're hiring the hands-on technical anchor of that operation, with a real mandate: help us overhaul how we manufacture — better fixtures, rewritten CNC programs, and streamlined secondary operations — with ownership backing you directly. You'll also own the health of our production injection molds, troubleshooting process issues and managing tooling work through our trusted outside mold shops. This is a shop-floor role first; for the right person it comes with a clear runway into senior leadership. What You'll Do Own our production injection molds — troubleshoot injection molding process issues, diagnose mold problems, and manage repairs through our outside mold shops (spec the work, review quotes, verify results) Lead the overhaul of our machining side — design workholding and fixtures, set machining strategy, and write and optimize CNC programs for our mills and lathes (Haas, Hurco, Mori Seiki), including a focused rewrite of existing programs to cut cycle times. Streamline our secondary operations — simplify steps, fixtures, and flow between molding, machining, and assembly Drive continuous improvement across injection molding, CNC machining, and secondary departments Work shoulder-to-shoulder with machinists and operators, and help identify where our processes are strong and where they need work What You Bring Experience in a similar environment — a shop running injection molding alongside CNC machining and secondary operations Heavy CNC experience — hands-on programming, setups, fixturing, and machining strategy on CNC mills and lathes Real injection molding and injection mold knowledge — process troubleshooting, assessing mold condition, and the ability to talk shop with mold makers Tool & die fluency — you understand how molds and tooling are built, repaired, and quoted, and can direct that work with outside shops 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience — an engineering degree is great, but equivalent shop-floor experience counts just as much A reliable, team-first attitude and pride in your work Nice to Have SolidWorks (we run SolidWorks 2026) and CAM programming experience Bench-level moldmaking or mold repair background Experience quoting machining or tooling work Prior work in a defense/ITAR-regulated environment Why You'll Want to Stay Family-owned and operated since 1980 — 45+ years of stability A friendly, supportive, team-oriented culture where your work is valued A clear runway into senior leadership, with broad responsibility for how we manufacture — we promote from within Direct access to ownership and real influence over how the company evolves Meaningful work supporting critical defense applications A genuine commitment to work-life balance — we keep overtime to a minimum
