The Role We're looking for a Design Engineer who can move seamlessly between design and code. You'll turn ideas into polished, production-ready experiences—prototyping in code, shaping interactions, building reusable components, and sweating the details that make great products feel great. You'll work closely with product, design, engineering, and the founders, with significant ownership over how SideShift looks, feels, and functions. What You'll Do Design and build polished product experiences from concept to production Prototype interactions and ideas directly in code Turn ambiguous problems into simple, intuitive experiences Build and evolve our design system and component library Sweat the details: typography, spacing, animation, transitions, and states Collaborate closely with product and engineering to iterate quickly Raise the bar for visual and interaction quality across the product What We're Looking For 2+ years in design engineering, product design, frontend engineering, or a combination Have built and implemented design systems from the ground up Strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS Strong visual and interaction design skills Proficiency with Figma or similar design tools Excellent product sense and attention to detail Ability to prototype quickly and turn ideas into production-quality work A portfolio demonstrating exceptional product craft You Might Be a Great Fit If You care as much about how something feels as how it functions You notice the 2px alignment issue nobody else sees You'd rather prototype an interaction than debate it You have a high standard of excellence for design The Process Initial convo with Drew Levin, Co-founder & CTO; Technical conversation with Neev Jain, Founding Engineer; Work Trial - we invite you to a paid 2-3 day working session with the team.
