This role will take ownership of automation and capital equipment projects across a large manufacturing network. The focus is not solely on hands-on PLC programming — they're looking for someone with a strong technical understanding of automation, controls, and robotics who can independently drive projects from initial development through implementation. You'll work closely with plant teams, equipment suppliers, machine builders, and systems integrators while managing project scope, schedules, budgets, technical requirements, and implementation. What You'll Be Doing Lead automation and capital equipment projects from development through implementation, startup, and handoff Develop project scopes, business cases, budgets, schedules, and performance targets Manage multiple automation and capital projects simultaneously across manufacturing facilities Work directly with equipment suppliers, machine builders, systems integrators, contractors, and other external partners Develop project requirements and hold vendors accountable to scope, schedule, and technical expectations Support equipment design reviews, FATs, installations, SATs, startups, and commissioning Partner with plant engineering, maintenance, operations, IT, and other internal stakeholders Provide technical direction and problem-solving support around automated equipment, controls, and robotics Support plant training and post-implementation handoff of new equipment and technologies Identify and evaluate new automation technologies and manufacturing processes Drive projects independently while coordinating internal and external project resources What We're Looking For 6+ years of experience within manufacturing, automation, controls, equipment engineering, or a related environment Experience personally leading or owning automation and/or capital equipment projects Strong technical understanding of industrial automation and manufacturing equipment Experience working with equipment suppliers, machine builders, OEMs, and/or systems integrators Robotics experience; FANUC is preferred, although experience with other major robotic platforms is relevant Working knowledge of PLC/HMI systems; Allen-Bradley/Rockwell is preferred Experience with equipment installation, startup, and commissioning Strong project management skills with experience managing scope, schedules, vendors, and project deliverables Ability to work independently and drive projects without significant day-to-day direction Understanding of machine safety, pneumatics, and automated equipment Basic mechanical design knowledge Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience is a plus Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered Additional Details Travel is project-based and may reach approximately 30% , primarily around supplier visits, FATs, equipment installations, startups, and commissioning. Travel tends to come in waves depending on the project phase rather than being consistent week to week and is primarily domestic, with occasional international travel possible.
Pay:
$115,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
