Job Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer Support associate reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and receives direction from the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Technician or ME Technicians .
Job Summary & Responsibilities :
Handles requests from production teams related to job and assembly aides, templates, jigs, fixtures and tooling. Develops, designs, documents, builds and implements solutions to these production needs. Assist ME Techs in correcting fixture, tool and die issues. Many issues are related to bend dies and punch dies with scratched or wrinkled parts, dies needing shimmed, repaired or replaced. Create specifications, get quotes, write Purchase Orders as needed for all new tools and dies. Make repairs or modifications to existing jigs or fixtures. Replace clamps, repair damaged jigs, etc.
Responsibilities:
To respond to and assist ME Techs with day-to-day requests from the production floor for fixture, tool and die related problems. To support department needs to ensure projects are being responded to and completed in a timely manner. Create templates and solution tools in Inventor for routing or 3D printing. To properly document all designs and drawings that are developed. To follow proper THOR procedures and guidelines, especially as related to requests for funding and spending. To work with outside vendors, Airstream Operations, Maintenance and Product Development as needed to understand requirements and complete projects. To ensure the needs of the production team are met in a timely manner. Will report out no less than weekly to ME Manager for all project status updates and reports.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Three years production work and/or tool making experience Associate s degree in Engineering-related field or equivalent work experience. Must have experience w/AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office 3D Printing & modeling experience a plus but not required Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills Good oral and written communication skills
