Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Director of Automation and Industrial Electrical & Controls (I&E) to lead our automation initiatives and oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced industrial control systems. This pivotal role drives innovation in manufacturing processes by integrating robotics, PLC systems, and automation technologies to optimize efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in robotics engineering, industrial electrical systems, and lean manufacturing principles, with a passion for developing cutting-edge automation solutions that elevate operational excellence. Duties Lead the development and execution of automation strategies across manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry best practices. Oversee the design, installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of PLC systems, robotic systems, human-machine interface (HMI) configurations, and industrial controls. Manage the integration of industrial robotic systems with existing manufacturing equipment to improve productivity and reduce cycle times. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop schematics, electrical diagrams, and blueprints using SolidWorks and other CAD tools for automation projects. Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes and eliminate waste. Ensure compliance with CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) standards while maintaining safety protocols for all automation activities. Provide technical guidance on industrial electrical systems, industrial networks, distributed control systems (DCS), and vision inspection systems to enhance quality assurance. Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex automation issues involving PLC programming (ladder logic), robot programming, industrial equipment diagnostics, and schematic interpretation. Develop training programs for operators and maintenance staff on new automation technologies and controls systems. Stay current with emerging trends in robotics engineering, industrial controls, and automation software to maintain technological leadership. Qualifications Extensive experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on automation systems. Proven expertise in PLC programming (including ladder logic), PLC troubleshooting, and PLC system installation/repair. Deep understanding of industrial electrical systems, schematics reading/interpretation, tooling, machining processes, and blueprint reading. Hands-on experience with human-machine interface (HMI) configuration and integration within automated production lines. Familiarity with vision inspection systems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in manufacturing environments. Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies to optimize workflows and reduce waste effectively. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with engineering troubleshooting capabilities across complex automated equipment.
