Perma-Pipe in Lebanon, TN (USA) is hiring Manufacturing Engineer/Drafter! We're seeking a dependable and motivated Manufacturing Engineer/Drafter to join our team. This position plays a critical role in supporting engineering, manufacturing, and project execution activities through the preparation of accurate CAD drawings, equipment programming, estimating, and production support. The Manufacturing Engineer/Drafter will collaborate closely with engineering, production, safety, operations, and sales teams to develop piping layouts, maintain engineering documentation, create bills of material, verify manufacturing costs, and support fabrication processes. The ideal candidate combines strong technical drafting abilities with manufacturing knowledge, analytical skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This is an on-site position in Lebanon, TN (USA) and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements. Essential Job Functions Manufacturing Responsibilities Prepare detailed piping system layout drawings and component drawings for fabrication and customer deliverables. Develop and maintain bills of material (BOMs) using Microsoft Excel and Word. Program and support production equipment, including HGG and Plasma Cutting systems. Train production personnel on equipment operation and provide hands-on support when necessary. Verify engineering costs associated with labor, burden rates, materials, and manufacturing processes. Develop shop labor estimates and production cost estimates. Support manufacturing process improvements and production efficiency initiatives. Maintain positive and effective working relationships with shop personnel, supervisors, and foremen. Project Responsibilities Communicate effectively with engineers, production teams, customers, and project stakeholders regarding project requirements, schedules, and technical issues. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining established schedules and deadlines. Coordinate engineering deliverables to support customer requirements and manufacturing operations. Support estimating activities through labor analysis, material takeoffs, and cost verification. Participate in project meetings, conference calls, and customer communications as required. Perform additional project-related responsibilities as assigned. Operational Responsibilities Maintain drafting environments and document control systems in accordance with company standards. Ensure CAD file integrity, revision control, and compliance with established engineering procedures. Utilize Autodesk AutoCAD and COADE CADWorx software to develop and maintain engineering documentation. Implement advanced 3D drafting techniques, including isometric layouts and detailed 3D modeling. Generate reports, analyses, and documentation using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Support ERP/MRP system activities and data management processes. Contribute to process standardization and automation initiatives, including Business Rule Management Systems (BRMS) such as Drools. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Education College-level CAD instruction or equivalent training in Autodesk AutoCAD products required. Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred. Required Skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including: Formulas and advanced functions Pivot Tables Lookup functions Data analysis Report creation Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail. Strong mathematical aptitude and understanding of dimensional measurements. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while contributing within a team environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Experience with ERP/MRP systems. Experience with Business Rule Management Systems (BRMS), including Drools. Previous estimating, manufacturing cost analysis, or inside sales experience. Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a fabrication, piping, or industrial environment. Experience Requirements Solid understanding of both 2D and 3D drafting and modeling capabilities within AutoCAD and CADWorx. Demonstrated experience producing engineering documentation for manufacturing, fabrication, and customer-facing applications. Experience creating fabrication drawings, piping layouts, and associated manufacturing documentation. Familiarity with manufacturing processes, production equipment, and fabrication workflows is highly desirable. Physical Requirements Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while performing drafting and computer-based work. Ability to occasionally move throughout the facility and office environment. Regular operation of computers, printers, calculators, and other office equipment. Ability to observe details at close range and maintain a high level of visual accuracy when reviewing drawings and documentation. Ability to communicate effectively and exchange accurate information with team members and customers. Mental Requirements Ability to manage diverse responsibilities and competing priorities.
