Job Title:
Plumbing Design Engineer Job Description Join a leading MEP design and consulting firm to design plumbing systems for building projects. You will perform load calculations, system analysis, and select and size plumbing equipment and systems. Your role will involve developing construction documents, drawings, and specifications in Revit, ensuring designs comply with applicable building codes and industry standards, and coordinating with other departments throughout the design process. Occasional site visits may be required. Responsibilities Design plumbing systems for various building projects. Perform load calculations and system analysis. Select and size plumbing equipment and systems. Develop construction documents, drawings, and specifications using Revit. Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and industry standards. Coordinate with other departments and teams throughout the design process. Assist with site visits as necessary. Essential Skills Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. Experience in plumbing design for buildings. Experience supporting projects from schematic design to construction documents. Ability to perform load calculations and system analysis. Knowledge of industry codes and standards (IPC/UPC, IBC standards). Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. 3-6+ years of MEP/AEC plumbing design experience. Certification preferred. LEED Accreditation is a plus. Experience with military or government projects. Proficiency in Bluebeam and/or Newforma is beneficial. Commercial or high-rise/multi-building residential experience is highly preferred. Work Environment Our team consists of 275 employees across offices in Oregon, Chicago, Denver, Honolulu, California, Texas, D.C, and New York. The Chicago office comprises 16 people, including mechanical/plumbing and electrical specialists. We offer a flexible hybrid model with in-person attendance required on Mondays and Wednesdays. Office hours typically start between 7 AM and 9 AM, with flexible working hours and no strict clock-in system. Employees should communicate their schedules, meet project deadlines, and adjust hours when necessary. Overtime is common at the start of projects, with a typical workweek of 45-48 hours during busy periods. As projects progress, workloads stabilize to approximately 40 hours per week. Approved overtime is compensated. Limited travel to project sites, such as in San Antonio, TX, may be required, with travel expenses covered. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.62 - $52.40/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
