Job Title:
Project Engineer Job Description The Project Engineer drives cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment by leading individual and small team efforts. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, supports customer technical interactions, and provides structured plans to transition projects smoothly into operations. The Project Engineer combines strong technical knowledge of fabrication and welding processes with proven project management and problem-solving skills to deliver measurable results. Responsibilities Lead cost reduction and continuous improvement activities through individual contributions and small team initiatives. Communicate proactively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships to secure support in meeting project schedules and goals. Act as a key stakeholder in customer technical interactions, tailoring communication to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences. Serve as a resource for developing and guiding small teams, providing direction, support, and technical insight as needed. Develop support structure plans for implementing best practices in collaboration with facility operations teams. Create clear roadmaps for handing off projects to operations, ensuring smooth implementation and sustained performance. Coordinate project management activities, including planning, tracking progress, and reporting on status and outcomes. Apply strong problem-solving and organizational skills to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions. Prepare and deliver concise presentations in one-on-one and small group settings to customers and colleagues. Utilize knowledge of fabrication and welding processes and emerging process technologies related to cab manufacturing to improve processes and outcomes. Set metric-based goals, monitor performance against targets, and take timely action to overcome obstacles and achieve results. Use Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to analyze data, track project metrics, and communicate findings and recommendations. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environments. 1-2 years of project management experience preferred. Experience working with internal customers across product design, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and cost estimating functions. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and colleagues. Strong knowledge of fabrication and welding processes and emerging process technologies related to cab manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage small teams, formally or informally. Self-motivated with the ability to set and achieve metric-based goals, overcome obstacles, and make timely decisions. Proficiency in Microsoft products, primarily Excel and PowerPoint. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience serving as a key technical stakeholder in customer-facing discussions. Process engineering and project management in a manufacturing setting. Ability to build productive relationships with cross-functional partners in operations, engineering, and quality. Comfort working with emerging manufacturing process technologies and driving best-practice adoption. Work Environment The role operates in a manufacturing-focused environment that emphasizes collaboration with operations, product design, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and cost estimating teams. You will work closely with facility operational teams to implement best practices and support the transition of projects into full-scale operations. The position involves regular use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis, reporting, and presentations, and requires frequent interaction with internal stakeholders and customers in both one-on-one and small group settings Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greeneville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
