Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer I - Assembly Business Unit (ABU) Position Summary The Manufacturing Engineer I supports the Assembly Business Unit (ABU) by planning, developing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery performance, and cost efficiency. This role serves as a key engineering partner to Assembly Operations, ensuring production processes are robust, standardized, and scalable. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as primary Manufacturing Engineering support for ABU Assembly operations Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput, reduce defects, and improve ergonomics Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality and production issues Develop and improve manufacturing methods through process optimization and capital equipment improvements Analyze workforce standards, workflow, and space requirements Create and maintain written manufacturing instructions and documentation Support tooling design and collaborate cross-functionally to improve production efficiency Assist in equipment and material purchasing decisions and evaluate products against specifications Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs Apply statistical methods to evaluate and forecast manufacturing requirements Support budget development and manage capital expenditures within department guidelines Act as a change agent promoting teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering field required 0-3 years of relevant professional experience Manufacturing experience preferred (hydraulics/fluid power background a plus) Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Experience supporting LEAN manufacturing initiatives Experience with automation projects preferred PLC knowledge a plus Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk on the production floor for extended periods of time Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and climbing stairs Ability to work safely around moving mechanical equipment and manufacturing processes Visual acuity required to inspect components, review technical drawings, and analyze production issues Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment for extended periods Occasional exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, and typical manufacturing plant conditions
