Beyond hands-on assembly and test work, this role coordinates the daily flow of the production floor and assists with customer-facing technical support as needed. Reporting directly to the COO, the Lead Production Technician will interface with team members across Science, Engineering, Quality, Inventory, and Purchasing, and will work closely with the rest of the production team to keep output on schedule and customers informed and supported. Job Description DetectionTek is looking to hire a Lead Production Technician to anchor a growing production crew. This role combines hands-on instrument assembly with day-to-day production coordination, plus occasional support of customer-facing technical questions. We're seeking a professional, reliable, and hardworking addition to our team who can keep the production schedule moving, be the technical go-to for teammates, and represent DetectionTek well when called on to help a customer.

Responsibilities:

Production & Assembly Prepares for assembling by studying assembly instructions, specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies Use of hand tools and mechanical fixturing for mechanical assembly. Verifies specifications by measuring completed components Constructs product by fabricating parts; assembling circuits, components, and parts; operating drills and related machine tools Assemble and test optical systems in accordance with delivery schedules Verifies system performance by testing functioning of installed equipment Use logical troubleshooting techniques to repair instruments, assemblies, and subassemblies Troubleshoot harness and PCB assemblies Ensure that products meet quality standards, perform intended functions, and are shipped according to customer expectations Production Coordination Help track the daily and weekly production schedule, flagging bottlenecks or delivery risks to leadership Maintain quality documents and production paperwork to ensure process flow and control Documents actions by completing production and quality forms Assist in resolving production failures or product issues and coordinating next steps with the team Assist with inspection of incoming components and identify non-conforming materials Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needed supplies, and working with Purchasing to place and track orders Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs Notify leadership to obtain additional resources when assembly or scheduling problems arise Customer Support (as needed) Assist with customer technical support inquiries related to instrument function, calibration, and troubleshooting when called on Help walk customers through basic troubleshooting steps by phone or email; escalate complex issues appropriately Assist with return/repair (RMA) intake, diagnosis, and turnaround for customer instruments Relay recurring customer issues or product feedback to Engineering and Quality to support continuous improvement Maintain a professional, patient, and solutions-oriented tone in all customer interactions General Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Other duties as prescribed Required (Basic)

Qualifications:

Able to read and follow written, verbal, and pictorial procedures Must be able to read analog and digital circuit schematic diagrams Must be able to read wire harness circuit schematic diagrams Must be able to read mechanical drawings Able to utilize multimeters and oscilloscopes for the purpose of alignment and troubleshooting Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills are required Comfortable communicating directly with customers by phone and email in a professional, clear manner Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, on occasion Ability to stand, kneel, stoop, squat; in addition to use arms, hands, and fingers to inspect objects, tools, and controls Ability to perform visual and dimensional inspections upon completion of certain assembly process steps, as well as on incoming component parts This position will work full time at 40 hours a week Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future No relocation is offered for this role. Required Job Skills:
