Based at our Granite City, IL facility, you'll set up, operate, and maintain steel slitting equipment so every cut meets spec, every time. What you'll do Run the coil slitting line to produce material at exact widths and lengths based on work orders and blueprints. Watch gauges and quality checks closely; fine‑tune knife setups, speed, and tension to maintain tight tolerances. Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime. Follow all safety procedures and keep your area organized, clean, and hazard‑free. Partner with teammates to improve throughput, yield, and changeover efficiency. Record production metrics and material traceability; promptly elevate issues to supervisors. Help train new operators on safe machine operation and standard work. Safely handle coils using overhead cranes and forklifts as needed. What you'll bring High school diploma or equivalent; bonus if you have technical training in machine operation. Hands‑on experience in slitting or a related manufacturing role preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude with solid problem‑solving instincts. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. Sharp attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work.
