Summary The Production Color Floater is responsible for following the Color Operator and Color Mixer SOPs to create ink and color match jobs on the print machines, print test samples, and assist with the smooth operation of the print machine. This position floats between the Print and Ink departments as needed and supports the supervisor and manager in developing personnel and processes. Responsibilities Under minimal supervision, perform all tasks required to meet the printing process, including: Core Duties Follow all SOP guidelines and standards (see attached SOP) Print test samples for review Match color for the active job and prep for the next job Float as needed between Print and Ink departments Train personnel on the print machine on proper color procedures Adhere to all safety protocols and utilize required PPE (safety glasses, etc.) Ensure hazardous waste responsibilities/requirements are properly performed Prepare working inks and materials for the project Run samples and make color adjustments to achieve an accurate color match Manage color efficiency and identify/resolve issues Color Mixer Responsibilities Ensure ink quantity, quality, and viscosity are correct, consistently monitored, properly maintained, and matched to the correct color standard Provide color drawdowns on a Leneta card to the supervisor/lead hand Identify and respond to problems with color, shade, hue, density, and depth Provide colors in a timely manner Staff & Equipment Assist fellow ink room personnel when needed Work safely with minimal supervision and proper PPE Work effectively in a team environment Train on and operate the ink dispenser Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are always followed Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of color manufacturing experience with solid knowledge of color theory and color movement Strong multitasking and organizational skills Strong communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish a plus Ability to troubleshoot machinery Team player, reliable, and self-motivated Working knowledge of color systems
