Job Description

Position Summary:
The Notching Operator is responsible for operating specialized equipment for finished bath tissue rolls. This role is essential to ensuring product compatibility with customer dispensing systems, maintaining product quality, and meeting production standards. The operator will set up, monitor, and adjust the notching machinery and inspect rolls for accuracy and consistency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and adjust notching equipment to cut correct-size notches on bath tissue rolls according to product specifications. Ensure notches meet required dimensions, location, and shape to function properly in designated dispensers. Inspect finished rolls visually and with measuring tools to verify notch quality and placement. Document any equipment issues, production variances, or quality concerns. Perform basic troubleshooting of notching equipment and escalate mechanical issues to maintenance. Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform routine preventative maintenance tasks. Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE. Record production data, including number of units notched, scrap, and machine downtime. Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and safety initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED and 1 year of manufacturing experience Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read a tape measure and interpret product specifications. Physically able to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods (up to 25 lbs.) Strong attention to detail and quality.
Preferred:
Prior experience in paper converting, tissue manufacturing, or operating finishing equipment. Familiarity with commercial tissue dispensing systems. Experience using calipers, gauges, or other precision measurement tools.

Working Conditions:
Manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise, dust, and machinery. Required use of
PPE:
safety glasses, safety shoes, ear protection, gloves, etc. Standing, lifting, reaching, and repetitive motion required throughout the shift. May require working overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts.
