Position Description You will serve as a
MATERIALS ENGINEER
in the
AIR VEHICLE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, MATERIALS ENGINEERING DIVISION
of
FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Position Duties/Responsibilities You will be required to either individually develop, or lead the development of, testing procedures to resolve the most complicated, critical in-service failure modes threatening the readiness of Naval aviation. You will develop and modifies their engineering efforts, objectives, and methodology in the course of planning and conducting their team's work. You will provide engineering guidance, mentorship and technical direction to senior-level engineers locally and nationally in the understanding and proper application of new developed techniques and testing methodologies. You will provide mentorship to journey and senior level engineers in the proper application of advanced techniques in electron microscopy, instrumentation, aircraft crash investigation, and problem solving. You will coordinate technical work and liaisons with high-ranking technical officials across NAVAIR, private industry, professional associations, and academia. You will conduct classes, seminars and workshops to educate and train developing, journey, and senior level engineers in advanced air vehicle engineering policies, processes, procedures, methods and techniques. You will novel materials engineering and component service principles to complex problems to ensure that solutions do not create undesirable systemic conditions.
