Job DescriptionThe Senior Solid State NMR Scientist provides laboratory support in solid-state NMR (ssNMR) data collection and interpretation for pharmaceutical materials.

Apply ssNMR to characterize a broad range of pharmaceutical materials (crystalline and non-crystalline small molecule APIs, excipients, drug product intermediates, and drug products)Apply quantitative ssNMR methods to measure components of APIs and drug productsPlan and perform experiments with minimal supervisionCollaborate with colleagues in Materials Science to define and implement characterization strategiesSolve scientific problems using contemporary Materials Science experimental techniquesContribute to the development of new scientific approaches and knowledge within the Materials Science organizationEnsure contemporaneous and accurate entries are made in the electronic laboratory notebook system according to accepted good practiceQualificationsPh.D. degree in chemistry or equivalent field with expertise in ssNMR or a
B.A./M.S
degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field with 2-3+ years of ssNMR experienceExperience with ssNMR sample preparation, data acquisition, and interpretation of 1D and 2D spectraExperience in solid state characterization techniques (such as x-ray powder diffraction, polarized light microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, spectroscopy, etc.) is an advantage.

Experience and understanding of vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR, NIR, FT-Raman) is an advantage.

Understanding of physical, analytical, and organic chemistry.

Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.

Good organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

A strong interest and motivation to learn new technologies and concepts is expected.
