$70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year Job description: Job Summary Precision Build Solutions is seeking a knowledgeable Welding Engineer / Welding Specialist to support welding operations, procedures, and quality requirements within a structural steel fabrication environment. This position will focus on developing and maintaining welding documentation, including Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) , while providing technical expertise related to welding processes and joint geometry. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding of welding, joint design, and fabrication practices. Previous hands-on welding experience is a plus , but the primary focus of the position is technical welding knowledge, procedure development, and supporting production with accurate and code-compliant welding requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop and document Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) for initial welding procedure testing. Develop written Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) based on qualified PQRs. Review and establish appropriate welding parameters and procedures. Evaluate and specify joint geometry and related welding requirements. Provide technical support to welding and fabrication personnel. Interpret drawings, specifications, and welding requirements. Support production in resolving welding-related technical issues. Assist with ensuring welding procedures meet applicable codes, specifications, and project requirements. Collaborate with welders, fitters, quality personnel, and management. Review welding practices and recommend improvements when needed. Maintain accurate welding procedure documentation and records. Support quality and safety requirements throughout fabrication operations. Perform additional technical duties as needed. Qualifications Strong knowledge of welding processes and fabrication practices . Experience developing or working with PQRs and WPSs . Understanding of joint geometry and weld joint design . Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding specifications. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills. Ability to communicate technical information effectively with production personnel. Previous hands-on welding experience is strongly preferred . Experience in structural steel or heavy fabrication is a plus. Ability to work effectively in a production environment.
