Afendi Manufacturing Company Job Purpose The Robotic Welding Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting robotic welding equipment and welding cells to produce high-quality fabricated metal components safely, accurately, and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating robotic welding systems in a metal fabrication, structural steel, or manufacturing environment, a strong understanding ofMIG/GMAW
welding, the ability to read fabrication drawings and weld symbols, and the ability to make appropriate welding and equipment adjustments to maintain consistent weld quality. Key Responsibilities Robotic Welding Operations Set up, operate, and monitor robotic welding equipment and welding cells. Load and properly position components into welding fixtures and jigs. Verify correct component positioning and fixture setup before starting the welding cycle. Select and verify welding programs based on the part, material, and job requirements. Adjust robotic welding parameters and positions as necessary to achieve acceptable weld quality. Monitor robotic welding operations to ensure consistent production and weld quality. Change welding consumables and basic operating settings when required. Maintain the welding cell in proper operating condition. Weld Quality Control Inspect robotic welds for proper location, appearance, consistency, and overall quality. Verify welds against fabrication drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and quality requirements. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections as required. Identify and correct common welding problems, including: Poor weld placement Porosity Undercut Excessive spatter Incomplete welds Inconsistent weld size or appearance Identify non-conforming welds and take appropriate corrective action. Minimize weld defects, scrap, and rework through proper setup and process control. Troubleshooting & Equipment Support Perform basic troubleshooting of robotic welding equipment. Troubleshoot basic issues involving fixtures, sensors, welding guns, wire feeders, and related components. Identify abnormal equipment conditions and report technical problems promptly. Make basic adjustments to welding parameters and robotic positioning when required. Coordinate with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Production personnel to resolve technical issues. Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance of the welding cell. Production Documentation Accurately record production quantities and completed work. Document scrap, rework, downtime, and production problems. Complete production travelers, work orders, and required production records. Follow SOPs, welding procedures, quality requirements, and production instructions. Communicate equipment issues, quality problems, and production delays to the supervisor. Team Coordination Work closely with manual welders and fabrication personnel when required. Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to resolve production and quality issues. Communicate effectively regarding machine performance, weld quality, production requirements, and equipment problems. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience operating robotic welding equipment or similar automated metal-fabrication machinery preferred. Previous experience in metal fabrication, structural steel, or manufacturing. Hands-on experience operating and making adjustments to robotic welding systems. Working knowledge ofMIG/GMAW
welding processes . Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols. Understanding of weld sizes, locations, dimensions, and basic welding specifications. Ability to identify common welding defects and basic fabrication quality problems. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to safely operate and work around robotic welding equipment. Ability to follow production travelers, work orders, SOPs, welding procedures, and quality requirements. Strong attention to detail, safety, quality, and productivity. Preferred Qualifications Experience with industrial robotic welding systems. Experience with structural steel and fabricated metal components. Experience with automated welding cells and fixtures. Knowledge of robotic welding programming and parameter adjustments. Experience withMIG/GMAW
welding equipment. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, and standardized work. Experience tracking production quantities, cycle times, downtime, scrap, and rework. Forklift or material-handling experience is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work around manufacturing equipment for extended periods. Ability to lift and move metal components as required. Ability to safely handle metal parts, fixtures, welding equipment, and consumables. Ability to work in an active welding and fabrication environment while wearing required PPE. Ability to work safely around robotic equipment and moving machinery. Safety & Quality Expectations The Robotic Welding Operator is expected to: Follow all company safety procedures and required PPE standards. Complete required equipment and welding-cell inspections before operation. Follow all applicable robotic equipment and welding safety procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles. Verify first-piece weld quality before continuing production when required. Immediately report equipment problems, safety concerns, weld defects, and production delays. Minimize weld defects, scrap, and rework through proper setup and process control. Maintain accurate production and quality documentation. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on robotic welding professional who understands that successful robotic welding requires more than simply loading a fixture and starting the welding cycle. The operator must be capable of properly positioning components, selecting the correct welding program, making appropriate welding adjustments, recognizing weld defects, troubleshooting basic equipment issues, and maintaining consistent weld quality and production efficiency.Pay:
