Job Description
- This position is for pre-selected candidates through Drexel University's Co-op program. External Candidates will not be considered
- As a student scientist, you will design and conduct experiments under the guidance of our experienced Scientists.
- Formulate various hydrophilic and hydrophobic APIs in polymers, and analyze drug release, for long-acting implantables of various geometries
- Formulate large molecule (peptide and protein) loaded long-acting dosage forms
- Analyze dissolution media containing API and polymers using HPLC
- Extraction of APIs from polymers for analysis on HPLC
- Daily runs using HPLC
- Use FTIR and Raman spectroscopy to determine API-polymer mixing and distribution
- Perform thermal analyses (DSC and TGA) and rheometry to determine API-polymer interactions
- Determine particle size of APIs using light scattering
- With guidance, select, design, and/or execute experiments, based on interpretation of previous results and understanding of known theory
- Contribute to innovative approaches to achieve project goals
- Anticipate/recognize potential problems with equipment and/or supplies, and initiate action to solve or prevent problems
- Perform literature review to better understand any experimental problems and how to solve them
- Keep detailed records of experiments and results in the laboratory notebook
- Present research to the R D team at the end of co-op.
