Mechanical Engineer for Automation Engineering Team This position is part of the Automation Engineering group supporting design and manufacturing custom equipment used in fast-paced operation. This candidate will be working closely with multiple disciplinary groups at our facility in Glendale, CA, but periodic travel to Arcadia, Irwindale, Sun Valley, Santa Fe Springs and Anaheim will be required. This candidate shall have the ability to communicate effectively with their peers.
Responsibilities:
Establish the problem statement, design requirements, and manufacturing process for custom automation equipment Design mechanical and electrical components and assemblies Design electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems Read and write build documentation (Bill of Materials, Engineering Drawings, Fluid & Electrical Schematics) Generate technical equipment manuals Program and troubleshoot PLC controllers and HMI units Test and evaluate mechanical and electrical systems
Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or industrial engineering Proficient experience in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks/Fusion 360) Have a solid understanding of the design and manufacturing process Have a solid understanding of mechanical design (mechatronics, vibration, gears, tolerance, etc.) Knowledge in material selection and material properties (strength, weight, corrosion performance, etc.) Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering documents Technical writing skills Proficiency in MS Office Ability to multitask and attention to detail Able to lift 15 lbs box and/or fixtures Preferred Experience working in a manufacturing environment Experience working with industrial equipment Experience working with industrial electronic control panels Experience with process improvement Experience in programming (PLC logic) Knowledge of industrial automation components (PLC, HMI, sensors, relays, etc.)
