Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for a cutting-edge aerospace and space technology client. This candidate will play a key role in the development of next-generation reentry vehicles, owning mechanical design efforts from concept through qualification and flight readiness. The engineer will work on vehicle structures, payload integration, thermal protection interfaces, and overall mechanical architecture while partnering closely with propulsion, avionics, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about first-principles engineering, aerospace vehicle development, and hands-on ownership in a fast-paced startup environment focused on pushing the boundaries of space transportation technology. https://insightglobal.com/workforce-privacy-policy/. Skills and Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of hands-on experience developing mechanical systems, structures, aerospace vehicles, or complex mechanical assemblies
- Strong mechanical design skills with experience in mechanisms, packaging, high-load environments, and user-focused designs
- High proficiency with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX
- Experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS Mechanical, NASTRAN, FEMAP, or similar
- Knowledge of modal and static structural analysis
- Experience creating engineering drawings and applying GD&T per
ASME Y14.5
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret/Top Secret Security Clearance Ability to work onsite in Playa Vista, CA
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Vehicle integration experience
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) experience
- Experience designing flight or vehicle structures, bracketry, and related hardware
- Demonstrated end-to-end product ownership from concept through production
- Experience supporting vehicle-level flight testing and hardware qualification campaigns
- Familiarity with SMC-S016, SpaceX RPUG, or similar aerospace qualification requirements Experience designing and testing qualified spaceflight hardware
