Mechanical Engineer - Power Systems (Defense Technology) We are a defense technology company developing advanced power systems that enable sustained, distributed energy capability for mission-critical military operations. Our products are designed to support next-generation defense platforms by decoupling power generation from consumption, improving survivability, mobility, and operational effectiveness in austere environments. Our engineering team builds highly integrated mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems that must perform reliably under extreme conditions and meet stringent military performance, endurance, and reliability requirements. The Role We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Powertrain Engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and test complex mechanical and electromechanical systems, including tightly integrated power and energy subsystems for defense applications. You will take ownership of hardware from early concept through prototyping, testing, production, and field deployment, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, manufacturable, and mission-ready systems. What You'll Do Own mechanical and electromechanical hardware design from concept through prototype, production, and field deployment Design tightly integrated systems including energy storage, power electronics, thermal systems, structural enclosures, and high-density packaging solutions Develop 3D CAD models and production-ready 2D drawings with GD&T and industry standards compliance Perform structural, thermal, and mechanical analysis using first principles, hand calculations, and CAE/FEA tools Rapidly prototype, test, debug, and iterate designs under compressed development timelines Design for high-volume and defense-grade manufacturing including machining, sheet metal, casting, composites, and PCB integration Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure feasibility, quality, and reliability of designs Support system integration, test campaigns, and root cause analysis of hardware failures Engage directly with customers during demonstrations and field evaluations to better understand mission requirements Translate test and field data into actionable design improvements Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience 2+ years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical system design in professional or research environments Experience owning or significantly contributing to end-to-end hardware development programs Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent) and production drawing creation with GD&T Experience with CAE/FEA tools and strong engineering fundamentals in structures, thermal systems, mechanics, and materials Hands-on prototyping and fabrication experience including machining, shop tools, and rapid prototyping methods Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal, casting, forging, or composites Exposure to MIL-STD, DO-160, or similar aerospace/defense standards Preferred Qualifications Experience with high-voltage or high-power electromechanical systems Background in energy storage systems, battery thermal management, or power electronics integration Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling tools Familiarity with simulation and CAE tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, or STAR-CCM+ Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition tools (Lab
