Under general supervision with review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required. May coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter- organization and some customer contact on technical issues. Supports other technical staff and will collaborate with other professional staff and enterprise resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports tasks related to mechanical engineering and design of integrated systems into a wide range of platform products by evaluating, interpreting needs and developing effective approaches to resolving issues. Utilize 3D CAD tools and data management software to address designs and meet configuration requirements. Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required. May represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects. Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Job Qualifications Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables. Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Hands-on mechanical engineering knowledge and skill is desired. Utilize 3D CAD modeling software to generate design solutions. Use of Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and Sim-Center is required; CREO & Simulate usage highly desired. An EIT (Engineer in Training) certificate is desirable. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required. Able to work extended hours as required.
