Job Description:
LongPath Technologies uses lasers to combat climate change by mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from the natural gas supply chain. Our patented technology and innovative deployment design provides low-cost continuous monitoring of emissions, providing the industry with the state-of-the-art quantification for emissions measurement and rapid repair of fugitive emissions. Your work at LongPath will save more energy in one year than you will use in your entire life. Sunny Boulder, Colorado is home to a thriving downtown and university campus, with bikeable commute options and ready access to world class rock climbing, skiing, hiking, and biking. A short 30-minute drive provides access to Denver's museums, airport, and city life. LongPath is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work on all aspects of our laser spectrometer, including robust optomechanical design, prototype development and testing, design for manufacturability, and industrial field infrastructure design and test. The ideal candidate will be excited to take a great deal of ownership from specifications to final design and work well in a dynamic team. We are a small and fast-growing company, so the position offers a large amount of both freedom and responsibility! What You'll Do Design mechanical assemblies in CAD Hands on assembly and test of prototypes Environmental testing of systems to replicate field conditions Thermodynamic analysis to ensure stability over a range of environmental conditions Optimize designs for manufacturability and ease of assembly, including tolerance analysis Coordinate with suppliers and fabricators to ensure manufactured parts meet design tolerance What You'll Need SolidWorks mastery Thermodynamic analysis experience, including the ability to perform back of the envelope sanity checks FEA experience Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a wide range of individual stakeholders, including non-engineers Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field Desired Skills Robotics/mechatronics experience Experience with industrial infrastructure, such as instrument towers Optomechanical design experience with free-space optics Optical lab techniques Zemax experience Working Conditions Work is performed in an office/laboratory environment in Boulder, CO Must be authorized to work for any employer in US (no sponsorship) Salary range is $90-110k Equity grant
