Responsibilities:
1. Lead the mechanical design of custom automation and industrial equipment, from concept through commissioning. 2. Design mechanisms involving pneumatics, servos, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and material handling systems. 3. Collaborate with controls and electrical engineers to ensure seamless system integration. 4. Support prototype builds, debug issues, and drive design improvements. 5. Specify components, materials, and manufacturing processes. 6. Work directly with vendors and fabricators to source and validate components. 7. Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 8. Participate in design reviews, ensuring that all solutions meet technical specifications and operational requirements. 9. Continuously monitor industry trends, technologies, and standards, incorporating relevant innovations into our engineering processes.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. 2. A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design engineering in the automation or industrial equipment sector. 3. Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software. 4. Extensive knowledge of mechanisms involving pneumatics, servos, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and material handling systems. 5. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material properties. 6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including controls and electrical engineers. 7. Proven experience in mentoring junior engineers and designers. 8. Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on quality and performance.
