Job Description
Avanos Medical seeks an R D Engineer III to design and develop innovative medical devices that improve patient outcomes in pain management and chronic care. In this role, you will lead design and development activities, plan and execute experiments, and drive verification and validation for respiratory and digestive health products. You will collaborate closely with clinical, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing partners to translate clinical needs into safe, effective solutions. Responsibilities Design and develop medical device components and systems supporting pain management and chronic care portfolios Plan and execute R D experiments, feasibility studies, and design verification/validation activities Analyze data, document results, and prepare technical reports and design history file documentation Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to translate clinical needs into product requirements Support risk management, usability, and safety evaluations in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards Contribute to design reviews, root cause investigations, and implementation of design improvements Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support technology transfer to manufacturing Required Skills Medical device design Product development lifecycle Design controls (FDA/ISO) CAD modeling Design verification and validation Risk management (FMEA, hazard analysis) Statistical data analysis Technical documentation Cross-functional collaboration Root cause analysis
