This position plays a critical role in driving innovation, ensuring product reliability, and supporting cross-functional teams in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, analytical, and experienced in managing the full product lifecycle—from concept through production. This opportunity offers flexibility to work from a modern innovation hub or a corporate office setting, with periodic collaboration at both locations. Position Responsibilities Product Development & Design Lead complex mechanical design projects from concept to production, ensuring performance and quality standards are met. Use advanced CAD tools to develop detailed mechanical components and systems. Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated solutions. Engineering Analysis Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and simulations to verify product performance. Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address design or production issues. Project Management Manage engineering projects, timelines, and deliverables while ensuring alignment with company goals. Support product validation and verification activities through testing and documentation. Collaboration & Technical Leadership Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers, sharing best practices and fostering continuous learning. Participate in cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and process improvements. Documentation & Compliance Generate and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and test reports. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and internal protocols. Prerequisites Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline 7+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, preferably in product development environments Strong proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and engineering analysis software Experience working in cross-functional teams and understanding of manufacturing processes Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills Certifications (Preferred, but not Required) Professional Engineer (PE) License Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt GD&T Certification Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) What the Role Offers Competitive base salary range: $95,000 to $115,000, based on qualifications and experience Biannual profit-sharing bonus based on company performance 401(k) plan with company match Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance with multiple plan options Life, AD&D, Short-Term, and Long-Term Disability insurance Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA, HSA, LFSA) 120 hours of vacation time, earned on anniversary date 10 paid holidays and additional company events throughout the year Opportunities for professional development and career advancement in a collaborative environment Why Carpentersville?
