Job Description
Job Summary Our client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Engineer responsible for managing assigned mold projects from design to production release. Communication and project management of external tool builds is required when necessary. Design and development of fixtures, assembly machines, and injection molded part concepts will also be required. Participate in tooling build reviews to determine mold build expectations and generate internal tooling quote. Prepare external mold quote packages and communicate with outside sources. Manage outside tooling on assigned projects and report progress to Engineering Manager. Design new product concepts using solid modeling software and generate fully detailed prints. Present concepts and status to engineering and sales team. Update part models and prints for approved ECNs. Verify product design moldability or reverse engineer existing tooling with flow simulation software. Attend pre-quote meetings and analyze the manufacturability of the item to be quoted, provide suggestions for enhancements, and document any issues that need to be addressed. Generate part costs for quoted projects. Support Sales by providing renderings, prints, costs, prototypes, web page images, and engineering assistance. Review dimensional layouts and determine course of action required for updating design, tooling, or prints. Design fixtures, assembly machines, and gages as well as generate fully detailed prints. Participate in and apply the necessary Product Development Process based on project classification when developing new product. Generate and maintain project scope, schedule, budget, and ensure the entire team understands their role in the project. Direct and provide technical input to the project team. Be the single point of contact for the customer or the sales team on assigned projects. Coordinate and provide guidance on technical procurement needs associated with assigned projects. Ensure the design inputs and outputs are properly documented and achieved. Work with Quality and Sales to understand and ensure product compliance on projects requiring certain listings and/or standards. Facilitate appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings to create approved verification tests associated with assigned projects. Generate and/or offer guidance on completing work instructions associated with assigned projects. Plan and provide regular update meetings and documentation to ensure the project team and/or customer is kept current on the project status. Travel to customer, vendors, or partners as necessary. Requirements Bachelor of Science in Engineering with product development leadership experience preferred or 7 years of engineering experience with an emphasis in project management. Injection molding part design and mold design experience very beneficial. A working knowledge of solid modeling, CAM, and flow simulation software is preferred. Excellent computer skills required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts from trigonometry and geometry including generally accepted CAD drawing formats. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Pay:
