We're looking for a motivated individual who has a passion for mechanical design work and producing high quality work to meet our customers' needs. Are you our Mechanical Engineering Designer? This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager at our Atlas Copco-Grayling, MI facility. As a Mechanical Engineering Designer, you will partner with the Engineering Manager, customers, and cross-functional teams to develop innovative concepts and engineered solutions. Applying your mechanical design expertise, technical judgment, and problem-solving skills, you will independently evaluate design requirements and create highly functional, reliable, and cost-effective engineered solutions that meet customer specifications, project objectives, and company standards. You will play a key role in driving design excellence through sound engineering practices, continuous improvement, and collaboration throughout the product development process. Here's how you'll make an impact: Lead the development and execution of detailed mechanical designs for fastening and automation solutions used in complex production environments. Independently translate customer requirements into robust, cost-effective mechanical designs, exercising sound engineering judgment and technical expertise. Develop, maintain, and enhance engineering drawings, standards, templates, and technical documentation to support product quality and consistency. Ensure design solutions comply with engineering standards, drafting requirements, regulatory requirements, and company best practices. Develop and validate high-quality 3D models, 2D layouts, detailed drawings, and bills of materials for complex mechanical assemblies and tooling systems. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, consistently meeting deadlines, budget constraints, and quality expectations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, documentation, design methodologies, and product performance. Evaluate technical challenges and develop practical engineering solutions through the application of mechanical design principles and independent judgment. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, project management, suppliers, and customers to ensure successful implementation of design solutions and project objectives.
