Job Description

SHD Composite Materials Inc seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support design, development and optimization of advanced composite materials and processes for aerospace, automotive, motorsport, marine and renewable energy customers. In this hands-on role, you will design test rigs, specify tooling and equipment, analyze mechanical performance, and support scale up from prototype to production. Collaborating closely with manufacturing, quality and technical sales, you will troubleshoot customer applications, generate technical documentation, and drive continuous improvement in product performance, reliability and manufacturability. Responsibilities Design and analyze mechanical solutions for composite materials, tooling and test fixtures Support development, testing and validation of composite prepregs, resin systems and adhesives Collaborate with manufacturing to scale processes from prototype to full production Troubleshoot mechanical and processing issues in customer applications Perform mechanical calculations, FEA reviews and data analysis for product performance Prepare technical reports, test plans and engineering documentation Contribute to continuous improvement in product reliability, quality and manufacturability Work closely with quality and operations to meet regulatory and customer requirements Support customer-facing technical discussions with sales and applications engineers Ensure safe, efficient use of lab and production equipment in daily engineering work Required Skills Mechanical design Composite materials engineering CAD (Solid Works or similar) Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Mechanical testing and data analysis Manufacturing process development Fixture and tooling design Technical documentation Root cause analysis and troubleshooting GD&T and mechanical standards knowledge
