Composites Mooresville, North Carolina Department Engineering Employment Full-Time Reports To Engineering Manager Salary $85,000-$115,000 annually About the Role SHD Composites is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to support advanced composite manufacturing in Mooresville, NC. This hands-on role will improve manufacturing processes, support equipment and tooling design, lead engineering projects, and help scale new products and production capabilities across aerospace, automotive, marine, defense, industrial, and energy applications. What You'll Do Design, develop, and improve mechanical systems, tooling, and manufacturing equipment used in composite material production. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, reliability, automation, and cost reduction. Support new product introductions and scale-up from development through commercial production. Lead or support capital projects, including specifications, vendor coordination, installation, commissioning, schedules, and budgets. Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Support preventive/predictive maintenance, equipment upgrades, and manufacturing reliability initiatives. Partner with R D, Production, Quality, Technical Services, vendors, and other cross-functional teams. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical design, manufacturing-process, engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and project-management skills. Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Preferred Experience Composite materials, aerospace, advanced manufacturing or chemical-process industries; Lean/Six Sigma; automation, data acquisition or process controls; ERP/manufacturing systems; PE certification or progress toward licensure. Work Environment Combination of office and manufacturing work. Ability to stand, walk, inspect equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Occasional travel to customer, supplier, or SHD facilities may be required. Why SHD Composites?
