A Mechanical Engineer researches, designs, develops, constructs, and tests mechanical devices including machines, engines and tools. Works on devices ranging from power generators to household dishwashers to surgical equipment. May specialize in a particular type of machine or tool. May develop new devices or improve existing ones to run more efficiently.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, installation, and improvement of automated manufacturing equipment. You will work with mechanical, electrical, controls, and production teams to develop reliable equipment, solve machine problems, and improve manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Design mechanical parts, fixtures, tooling, and machine components for automated equipment. Create and update 3D CAD models, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Support the installation, testing, startup, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment. Work with PLC-controlled systems, sensors, motors, pneumatics, actuators, and other automation components. Troubleshoot mechanical and automation equipment issues on the production floor. Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend improvements. Support continuous improvement projects to increase safety, quality, uptime, and production efficiency. Work with vendors and internal teams to source parts and support fabrication. Ensure equipment meets safety and quality standards. Document engineering changes, testing, and project updates.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within a manufacturing or industrial automation environment. Experience with automated machinery, production equipment, assembly systems, conveyors, or material handling equipment. Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, pneumatics, actuators, servo motors, and motion systems. Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar. Ability to create mechanical drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation. Strong understanding of machine design, manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerances. Hands-on troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment. Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with robotics, automated assembly, packaging, or custom machine design. Familiarity with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC systems. Knowledge of motion control, machine safety, GD&T, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5 Why, and Lean Manufacturing. Experience supporting equipment commissioning, FAT, SAT, and production startup.
