Translate customer and product specifications into mechanical design requirements and perform first-principles analysis to support design decisions. Create 3D solid models, detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and tolerance analyses. Develop prototypes, test methods, fixtures and prototype tooling for design evaluation. Troubleshoot and resolve design and process issues on prototype hardware and production equipment. Develop and execute design verification protocols, analyze test data and issue technical reports. Work with internal teams and outside suppliers on fabrication, inspection and testing of new parts and assemblies. Maintain design documentation within an electronic document control system. Train technicians and operators on new process techniques. Requirements BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 2 years of related mechanical design experience, or an MS in engineering. Experience with a parametric solid modeling CAD package, SolidWorks preferred. Experience designing electromechanical and electro-pneumatic medical devices or capital equipment. Working knowledge of DFM&A including cost, tooling and process considerations. Design experience across injection molded plastics, sheet metal, stampings, castings, machined components and additive manufacturing. Working knowledge of
GD&T, ANSI/ISO
dimensioning and drafting standards and statistical analysis of test data. Proficiency with mechanical measurement and test equipment including pressure and flow instrumentation, environmental chambers, PC-based data acquisition, multimeters and oscilloscopes. Knowledge of medical device regulations and quality practices including ISO 13485 and GMP. Hands-on comfort with basic shop tools and the ability to interpret simple wiring diagrams a plus. #ERGx
