Job Description
About the Role We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer to spearhead the development of bespoke manufacturing equipment and innovative process solutions. You will leverage your expertise in CAD design and machine architecture to drive R&D initiatives that provide a distinct competitive edge in our production environment. Responsibilities Drive the full lifecycle of custom machinery development, from initial conceptualization and 3D modeling to final commissioning on the production floor. Utilize SolidWorks to create high-precision mechanical designs, detailed fabrication drawings, and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs). Implement advanced web handling and tension control strategies to optimize continuous-feed manufacturing processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Automation and Operations to translate complex production requirements into robust, scalable engineering solutions. Oversee design reviews and provide technical mentorship to junior engineering staff to ensure high-quality output and adherence to engineering standards. Manage the documentation process for intellectual property and patent filings related to novel equipment designs. Conduct hands-on troubleshooting and design refinement during the installation and integration phases to ensure peak equipment performance. Qualifications Required Skills Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 7+ years of professional experience in industrial machine design and systems integration. Proven track record of taking complex machinery from concept through to successful production deployment. Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks for complex assembly modeling and drafting. Deep understanding of mechanical systems, GD&T, and modern fabrication methodologies. Preferred Skills Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Specialized experience in printing, converting, or high-speed web handling machinery. Familiarity with PDM systems for engineering data management and version control. Strong background in continuous improvement methodologies within a manufacturing setting.
