Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Responsibilities for this Position General Dynamics Mission Systems - Progeny Systems is a high-tech business focusing on software and hardware system integration, cutting-edge research and development, and manufacturing. We provide premium systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies and commercial clients. Seeking a Mechanical Engineer to become an integral member of the engineering team in the Sonar and Electronic Warfare business area. Duties and Responsibilities Design and analyze components and electro-mechanical assemblies Perform thermal, structural and dynamic analyses on complex 3D models Create and maintain mechanical solid models and drawings Create and manage bills of material (BOM) within data management system Develop fixtures and equipment to support testing and production efforts Generate design and interface documentation Perform product design, studies, development and testing on new and modified designs Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer Participate in various technical and program meetings as needed What sets you apart: Strong proficiency with Creo or SolidWorks modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards Experience with ruggedized electronics packaging for shipboard applications a plus Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) a plus Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects Strong communication skills with ability to write technical papers and proposals Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others

Salary Note This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
