Job Title:
Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description The Design Engineer will generate detailed models, drawings, and a variety of technical documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product designs are in accordance with program requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications. A strong Design Engineer contributes to the development of mechanical, electromechanical, structures, and weapons systems by applying sound engineering principles, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of aerospace materials and processes. Responsibilities Design and develop, or assist with the design and development of mechanical, electromechanical, structures, and weapons systems in the form of new products, components, advanced prototypes, promotional products, or maintenance and improvements of mature designs. Investigate pertinent design factors such as interchangeability, replaceability, maintenance, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Apply design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) principles to product and component design solutions. Create a product's technical data package (TDP) for all detail design, subassemblies, and final assemblies. Essential Skills Proficiency in Solidworks. Experience in mechanical design, ideally in aircraft systems or high industrial steel environments. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant fields. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with aircraft design. Knowledge of sheet metal design. Project management skills. Work Environment The mechanical engineering team consists of approximately 20 engineers. There is also a separate repair and fabrication shop with 145 personnel tied to the operation. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
