Job Title:
Mechanical Engineer Job Description We are seeking talented Mechanical Engineers to support the design and integration of advanced aircraft systems for a new development program. This role involves contributing across multiple domains of aircraft system design, including propulsion system integration, aircraft fluid systems (such as hydraulic, oil/coolant, pneumatic), actuated mechanisms (control surfaces, doors, flaps, valves), electronic component installation design, general mechanical and electrical systems installations, and hands-on integration and testing. The position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, small-company environment with significant impact on program success. Responsibilities Participate in propulsion system integration. Design and integrate aircraft fluid systems including hydraulic, oil/coolant, and pneumatic systems. Develop and implement actuated mechanisms like control surfaces, doors, flaps, and valves. Design electronic component installations. Manage general mechanical and electrical systems installations. Engage in hands-on integration and testing of systems. Essential Skills Proficiency in CAD software, specifically
CATIA V6
with 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX). Experience in design through build, including hands-on integration and testing of mechanical systems. Background in aerospace, aviation, UAV, or IAS industries. Ability to perform basic mechanical stress analysis using hand calculations and built-in tools. Experience with detail design capability and model-based definition (MBD) documentation. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and supply chain considerations for aircraft parts/systems. Ability to self-task and deliver results from high-level direction. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mid- to senior-level engineering experience. Multidisciplinary and integrated system development Background. Team-oriented with a proactive approach. Work Environment This role requires more onsite presence and offers a collaborative environment where engineers are encouraged to be inquisitive, quick-learning, and self-starting. The company culture is dynamic, with a focus on reducing system risks through advanced design, analysis, and testing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
