Job Description

Mechanical Engineering Intern Mead & Hunt, Inc United States, Wisconsin, Milwaukee Sep 09, 2026 Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a full-time, limited-term Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Greenhouse Gas Reduction Mechanical Engineering Team in our West Allis, WI office. This internship is anticipated to begin in May/June 2027 and continue through August/September 2027. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers on meaningful projects that support sustainability and infrastructure improvements. There is also potential for this internship to transition into a full-time engineering position upon graduation. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support engineers and project teams on a variety of mechanical engineering projects while gaining exposure to all phases of project development and design.

Responsibilities may include:

Assisting engineers with mechanical system design, analysis, and evaluation

Supporting design activities such as alternatives evaluation, equipment sizing, system layout development, and equipment selection/specification preparation

Assisting with the preparation and updating of drawings, technical memorandums, calculations, and project documentation

Gathering and organizing technical data in support of engineering studies and design projects

Utilizing engineering software and other design tools to support project development

Collaborating with mechanical engineers, project managers, designers, and other multidisciplinary team members

Developing technical skills through mentorship and guidance from experienced engineers

May participate in site visits, client meetings, and project coordination activities

Performing other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have:

Completed at least four semesters of college-level coursework in Mechanical Engineering or a related field The preferred candidate will have: Previous industrial internship experience

Mechanical design coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and/or heat transfer

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Strong enthusiasm for learning and professional development

Eagerness to grow technical and projectbased skills

Good written and verbal communication skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to seek feedback
