Job Description

Prototype Development Technician San Jose, CA Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our humanoid robot is designed for commercial tasks and the home. We are based in San Jose, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. It's time to build. We are looking for a Prototype Development Technician to take a hands-on role in building early stage mechanical and electromechanical assemblies for humanoid robot development.
Responsibilities:
Build mechanical and electromechanical assemblies from CAD, schematics, and verbal guidance—often with limited to no work instructions Perform electrical tasks including wiring, soldering, and assembling custom harnesses Help execute tests, diagnose issues and implement solutions in partner with engineering teams Iterate on designs and incorporate frequent revisions Document build processes, findings, and feedback to support design Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to support development
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical prototyping or assembly Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and wiring diagrams Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues across mechanical and electrical Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities Strong communicator
Bonus Qualifications:
Degree in related technical field IPC certification Prior experience building robotic systems Experience 3D CAD modeling Experience with 3D printing, machining, or other in house fabrication The US hourly range for this full-time position is between $30 - $40/hr. The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
