Mechanical Pipe Takeoff Modeler
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Pipe Takeoff Modeler to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed takeoff models for mechanical piping systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical design and construction, particularly in the context of piping systems, and experience working with 3D modeling software and BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools
Key Responsibilities:
  • Pipe Takeoff Modeling:
    oCreate accurate 3D takeoff models of mechanical piping systems, including but not limited to piping layouts, valves, hangers, supports, and equipment. oEnsure the models meet project specifications, codes, and standards, including ASME, ANSI, and others relevant to the industry.
  • Collaboration with
Design and Engineering Teams:
oWork closely with pre-construction manager and VP of pre-construction to review mechanical design drawings and determine material requirements. oProvide input on potential design issues or challenges based on model takeoffs.
  • Modeling and Drafting:
    oUse BIM software (such as Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and PowerBI) to create, update, and modify mechanical piping models as required. oPerform accurate quantity takeoffs from the models and generate reports for procurement, fabrication, and construction teams.
  • Quality Control and Verification:
    oReview takeoff models for accuracy and completeness, ensuring the models are aligned with design specifications. oConduct clash detection and resolve any discrepancies between disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural).
  • Coordination and Communication:
    oCommunicate effectively with takeoff team members, on deadlines and project statuses.

Documentation and Reporting:
oPrepare takeoff spreadsheets using Power BI desktop, Excel, and CINX. oManage revisions to takeoff models and update project estimate pricing due to changes or updates.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Education:
    oHigh School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    oExperience in mechanical piping design, takeoff modeling, or a related field. oHands-on experience with BIM software (Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, etc.). oExperience working on large-scale construction projects in sectors such as commercial, medical, and data centers.

oStrong knowledge of mechanical piping systems, materials, and construction practices. oProficiency in BIM tools for modeling and takeoff (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, etc.). 1
